On Oct. 28th 2018 a large maple tree cracked during a coastal windstorm and fell right on the roof of the Maudslay Arts Center (MAC) Concert Barn causing extensive damage.
We immediately had a carpenter wrap the affected areas to keep out the elements until spring when we must do the necessary repairs. Unfortunately the cost of those repairs is not covered by our insurance.
MAC has a unique public/private relationship with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation allowing us to operate the Arts Center on the Historic Farm Complex of the former Moseley Estate. In turn, we are responsible for preserving and maintaining all the buildings in the Farm Complex, especially the Concert Barn.
This spring we hope to repair all the damage caused by the October storm as well complete necessary improvements including replacing exterior shingles, updating the sound and lighting systems, and building a small indoor stage for performers.
Thank you for your support as we enter our 27th year of operation.
We have never asked for your direct financial support before, but this time we have no choice. The Maudslay Arts Center is a 503 C-3 nonprofit organization operated entirely by volunteers.
