Amanda Carr with Les Femmes de Chanson to perform at Maudslay Arts Center

This year Maudslay Arts Center (MAC) will celebrate its Silver Jubilee 25th Anniversary season with a wonderful line-up of concerts featuring something for every musical taste from classical to jazz, from opera to bluegrass, from country to the Great American Songbook.

Amanda CarrJazz Vocalist Amanda Carr will return to MAC on Saturday, July 29, at 7 p.m., this time with Les Femmes de Chanson. From “A Night in Tunisia” to “A Night to Remember” this all female, all-star quartet delivers the American Songbook with a fresh spin and unique interpretations, yet stays true to the Songbook melodies we all know and love. International jazz recording artist Amanda Carr, along with pianist/vocalist Yvonne Monnett and bassist, Genevieve Rose present an intimate but energetic program that entices, engages and entertains.

 Amanda Carr is a multi-styled vocalist/pianist, who has performed and recorded in the U.S. and abroad. Twice a feature story by respected writer/author Nat Hentoff in The Wall Street Journal, she garnered global exposure as he hailed her, “…a true jazz singer in a time of wannabes.”

With five jazz vocal recordings, global distribution and airplay, Carr continues to perform as a solo artist while remaining a popular guest artist. Amanda Carr has been a vocalist with Keith Lockhart and The Boston Pops, The Artie Shaw Orchestra, Harry James Band and the Glenn Miller Orchestra and recently with Michael Feinstein in concert.

The Silver Jubilee celebration will continue with Jonathan Edwards making his MAC debut on Aug. 19, and the return of MAC favorites Rebecca Parris, Shirim Klezmer Orchestra, and Liz Frame & The Kickers, to name just a few, and culminate in A Salute to Veterans with singer-songwriter Don Campbell on Sunday, Aug. 27.

MAC is a popular cultural and entertainment destination that has served tens of thousands of patrons since its founding 25 years ago in 1992. Whether you’re sitting under the stars on a moonlit evening, or lounging on a blanket on a Sunday afternoon, the Maudslay Arts Center Summer Concert Series provides the perfect setting for your entertainment pleasure.

Saturday concerts begin at 7 p.m. and include: Amanda Carr on July 29, Rebecca Parris on Aug. 12, and making his MAC debut singer Jonathan Edwards on Aug. 19.

Sunday afternoon performances begin at 2 p.m. and include: Liz Frame and the Kickers on Aug. 13, Shirim Klezmer Orchestra on Aug. 20, and A Salute to Veterans with Don Campbell on Aug. 27.
