Caroline Hometh of West Newbury won a handcrafted birdhouse designed in a maple sugaring house theme by Meryl Ford of Enfield, NH. The raffle was held on July 25 at the Maudslay Arts Center to benefit the popular music venue in Maudslay State Park.
Bob Spellman of Merrimac won the second prize, a Maudslay Arts Center gift certificate for two, which can be used at any concert during the 2016 Maudslay Arts Center Summer Concert Series, a season designed with something for every musical taste from classical to jazz, from opera to bluegrass, from country to the Great American Songbook..
There will be no performances the weekend of Aug 6 and 7, due to Yankee Homecoming. The schedule resumes with The Don Campbell Band’s “A Salute to Dan Fogelberg” on Saturday evening, Aug. 13. On Sunday afternoon, Aug. 13, Gilson Schachnik Brazilian Trio featuring vocalist Mirella Costa will be on hand for their MAC debut.
The Don Campbell Band A Salute to Dan Fogelberg is a special performance. Singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg was a multi-platinum selling recording artist, with hits such as “Longer,” “Leader Of The Band,” and “Same Old Lang Syne.”
As a fellow singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Campbell has always considered Dan Fogelberg a huge influence and musical hero. Fogelberg passed away in 2007, after a three-year battle with prostate cancer. In recognition of what would have been Dan Fogelberg’s 65th birthday, Campbell and his six-member band will perform a special edition of their powerful and moving “A Salute to Dan Fogelberg.”
Come back on Sunday, Aug. 14, at 2 p.m. for Gilson Schachnik Brazilian Trio featuring vocalist Mirella Costa in their MAC debut.
Schachnik started music instruction when he was 11 years old and studied with
Hilton Valente and Antonio Bezzan. His professional career began when he was 22 years old, playing at nightclubs in San Paulo. He has toured throughout Brazil with artists Patricia Marx and Rosa Maria.
The 2016 Summer Concert Series lineup also will include MAC favorites The Don Campbell Band, Rebecca Parris, Paul Broadnax, and Donna Byrne. New on this season’s lineup are the New England Tenors, The Bobby Keyes Trio, and Gilson Schachnik Brazilian Trio featuring vocalist Mirella Costa.
