The Bobby Keyes Trio performs Saturday at Maudslay Arts Center

Bobby KeyesThe Bobby Keyes Trio is featured this weekend at the Maudslay Arts Center Summer Concert Series, a season designed with something for every musical taste from classical to jazz, from opera to bluegrass, from country to the Great American Songbook.

Guitarist Bobby B. Keyes defines our American musical heritage by blending rhythm & blues, country, jazz, rock, pop and swing. His guitar playing is inspired and passionate, his musical taste is exquisite, and his sound is clean and refreshing. His career spans from American Roots to Pop Music writing and performing with artists from Jerry Lee Lewis to Robin Thicke, as well as Martha Reeves, Ben E. King, and LaVern Baker to Mary J. Blige, Mya Harrison, Lil Wayne and New Kids on the Block.

But, it is with his Trio that Keyes composes and performs the music which he is most passionate about; and where he defines our American musical heritage by blending rhythm and blues, country, jazz, rock, pop and swing. Along with drummer Marty Richards and bassist Marty Ballou, the Bobby Keyes Trio will be surely delight audiences.

The Bobby Keyes Trio will perform on Saturday, July 30, at 7 p.m.

The 2016 Summer Concert Series lineup also will include MAC favorites The Don Campbell Band, Rebecca Parris, Paul Broadnax, and Donna Byrne. New on this season’s lineup are the New England Tenors, The Bobby Keyes Trio, and Gilson Schachnik Brazilian Trio featuring vocalist Mirella Costa.

Whether you’re sitting under the stars on a moonlit evening, or lounging on a blanket on a Sunday afternoon, the Maudslay Arts Center Summer Concert Series provides the perfect setting for your entertainment pleasure.

Saturday concerts begin at 7 p.m. and include: The Bobby Keyes Trio on July 30, The Don Campbell Band on Aug. 13, Rebecca Parris on Aug. 20, and Myanna on Aug. 27.   

Sunday afternoon performances begin at 2 p.m. and include: Gilson Schachnik Brazilian Trio featuring vocalist Mirella Costa on Aug. 14, Paul Broadnax & Friends on Aug. 21, and Donna Byrne on Aug. 28.

            Maudslay Arts Center is located at 95 Curzon Mill Road, Maudslay State Park, Newburyport MA 01950. The concerts are held rain or shine, moving inside to the MAC Concert Barn when weather dictates. Handicap parking is available on site.

Concert-goers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner, which can be casual or as elaborate as a gourmet meal with tablecloth and flowers and whatever suits the patron’s fancy. Delicious desserts such as seasonal cobblers, brownies, and Hodgie’s ice cream, cold beverages and coffee may be purchased during intermission, all served by dedicated MAC volunteers, who continue to make this non-profit series happen.

Saturday performances start at 7 p.m., with gates opening at 6 p.m. Patio seating (tables and chairs) is $25, while lawn seating (bring your own chairs or blankets) is $20.  Children 12 and under are free.
Sunday performances start at 2 p.m. with gates opening at 1 p.m. General admission is $18 with open seating on the patio and lawn. Tables and chairs are provided on the patio. Children 12 and under are free.

The series is supported by The Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank, dedicated MAC volunteers and patrons, and the staff of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).
