2020 Season has been cancelled due to virus

It is with heavy hearts that we feel we must cancel the 2020 Maudslay Arts Center Summer Concert Series. For many of us, it’s just not summer without music at Maudslay Arts Center with family and friends.

“While we are just as upset as you are,” MAC Music Director Nicholas C. Costello said, “we know deep down this is the right decision to make for the safety of our patrons, musicians, and volunteers. We want to thank our artists and we regret we cannot support them during this difficult time, but we want to err on the side of safety.”

MAC has a popular cultural and entertainment destination that has served tens of thousands of patrons since its founding 28 years ago in 1992. Situated in a picturesque corner of the 442-acre Maudslay State Park in Newburyport, MAC is best known for its outstanding summer concert series. However, from mid-May through mid-October, it has also been a popular setting for special events such as weddings, corporate functions, educational activities, reunions, and more.
“We’re canceling the season, but our expenses still exist,” Costello said. “We will continue to make upgrades and improvements and as a result there is not a bad place to sit at Maudslay. On the lawn, patio or inside the concert venue, the acoustics are wonderful and will be again when we can safely resume our series.

“We thank our volunteers and our donors for their endless support over the years, and during this difficult time. We are grateful to our community, which has stepped up time and again over the years and we look forward to a time where we can all gather together again at Maudslay Arts Center. Until then, be safe. We will miss you.”
